So if you haven’t yet heard, today Unity finally made the official version jump from 4.6 to 5.

For the past few months, Unity 5  has been teased to Indie’s in various forms, yet has only been available through a paid pre-order, so it’s ‘free’ release is massive news.

With this major release come some significant changes to whats on offer.
The most exciting is that the complete engine and ALL its features are now available without a ‘Pro’ edition.  This means Real-time shadows, advanced culling and many other cool things which were locked off in 4.6. Find a full list of available features here  http://unity3d.com/unity/engine-features.

The Pro edition is still in effect, but most Indie developers will no doubt be looking towards the free version.
