“A clever take on the time-loop mechanic that’ll have you feeling brilliant one moment and clumsy the next.” – Indie Game Buzz Editor
Hey, Indie Game Buzz community! I’m Matt Timmermans, the solo dev behind Record Rewind Repeat—a puzzle-platformer about time travel, teamwork (with yourself), and trying really hard not to break the universe.
After months of testing, tweaking, and rewinding (a lot of rewinding), I’m excited to give you an exclusive preview of the game. If you’ve ever wished you could team up with your past self to solve mind-bending puzzles, then you’re in for a treat. Time loops and self-collisions may not be something you’ve thought about before, but Record Rewind Repeat will have you questioning every decision you make—across time.
What’s the Deal with Record Rewind Repeat?
In Record Rewind Repeat, every move matters—literally. You’ve got 60 seconds, a time portal with the ability to create time-duplicate versions of yourself to help solve each level. Your past selves can press buttons, open doors, and set up the perfect sequence to move forward. But here’s the twist: don’t touch yourself. That’s right, your time-traveling duplicates are your best friends and your worst enemies. Colliding with one of them will trigger a paradox that’ll destroy the universe (okay, maybe not the universe, but certainly your progress). Timing is everything, and every move counts.
Why I Made This Game ?
I love puzzles and time travel. I’d wanted to make a game that combined those two things for a long time—where your past self could help you but also be an obstacle to avoid. I started with a simple idea and not much planning. I’ve made a few games before, but nothing has gone as smoothly as this one. Everything just clicked. What began as a rough prototype quickly turned into a small but complete game. I shared it, got feedback—it wasn’t all great, but it was encouraging. I added player customization, achievements, and unlockables, and it started to feel like a full-fledged game, that demanded a commercial release.
Why Should You Play?
If you’re into puzzle-platformers that really get your brain working, Record Rewind Repeat is your next obsession. Whether you’re a fan of time-based mechanics or just looking for something that’s as fun as it is challenging, this game will have you hooked from the start. But be warned—you’ll be looping through levels (and your own past) more times than you care to admit.
The game isn’t just about solving puzzles, each level is a test of your ability to coordinate across time. It’s an exercise in problem-solving and time-management, with the added thrill of avoiding cosmic disaster. But it’s not all serious business. The quirky art style and the chance to boogie down with your past selves make for a fun filled experience—even when you’re stuck on a tricky puzzle.
