Just launching a few days ago, Earthworms is an arty point & click adventure that will take you on a thrill-ride of the mysterious, frightful, beautiful and down-right bizarre. Inspired by movies and TV shows like: Donnie Darko, They Live, X Files, Stranger Things, Twin Peaks.

This truly does look like a unique experience worthy of slow dissection. The level of detail and passion that has been injected into this project is evident. With a variety of environments and gameplay mechanics ranging from exploration, inventive puzzle solving mini-game, to meaningful character development.

All the locations in game were painted manually and are shown from unique perspectives.

You step into the shoes of private detective Daniel White, who is endowed with parapsychic abilities that give him visions and special insight into the investigations he pursues.

The game has you start by working the case of a missing teenager in a small ominous fishing village.
As the game progresses to different locations, mysteries deepen, things start getting kooky – as you start scratching at the presence of a global conspiracy.
If you love tension and having your mind twisted to the point of seizure, Earthworms is one you will not want to miss.

The developers have assigned the following Shakespearian motto to the game:
“There are more things in Heaven and Earth, than are dreamt of in your philosophy”.

Key Features:

  • exploring and interacting with 34 painted locations inspired by Edward Hopper’s work
  • adventure through a mysterious world which mixes pulp themes, surrealism and high-end science
  • an epic and emotive sound track
  • A plethora of challenging logical puzzles supported by a classic inventory system

The Earthworms provides deep thrills through a gritty mixture of horror, beauty, weirdness and the ugly. It balances various emotive themes into a tight narrative -reminiscent of a great mystery novel.

This certainly is a unique package worthy of a closer look. And with a launch price of only US$5.99, there is a lot here to like.
