I bet in your time as a gamer you have played any number of unusual protagonists, from kooky plumbers, hyperactove hedgehogs, to more generic mechs and sword dudes. Fictional characters can be pretty creative, but are quite typical, so when I received an elevator pitch about a Metroidvania, where you play as famous physicist Nikola Tesla, well.. here we are, Let me present Eon Break from Glad Rock.
“Eon Break is a fast-paced Metroidvania game about Nikola Tesla bending time and space to his will to fight the Nazi and mushrooms.” ( Now THAT is an elevator pitch! ).
Eon Break, is one of those Metroidvania platformers that probably has most of the generic characteristics you will find in others games in the genre, shooting, platforming, timing puzzles, all that good stuff. It’s what it offers in unique theme and narrative that really sets it apart, combined with some pretty cool powers too. Bending space time anyone?
It’s one of those games that, if you are an artist/designer, will make you feel disappointed in yourself. It looks that good. The flat design and saturation contrasted colour pallet make it an interactive art piece of sorts.
With Elon Musk’s electric car company Tesla quickly becoming a house hold name, it ‘s really clever timing to make a game featuring the famous the inventor himself. I’m not completely sold on the “fighting Nazis” aspect, as it seems a little played out. But lets see shall we.
1943. The Third Reich has seized control over most of Europe, suppressing any and all resistance with powerful weapons and fearsome creations. Reinforced with alien technologies, the Nazi are sure that their regime would become millennial.
Nikola Tesla travels back in time to find the root of all evil and prevent the invasion!
– Control time and space with a range of incredible devices
– Learn the truth about the life and death of Nikola Tesla
– Destroy many enemies with a transformable Tesla Gun
– Explore various locations in a huge open world environment
– Choose your destiny with many game endings
And here is a nifty trailer:
I have a great feeling about this one!
